TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore Lexi Stewart (Laurel, Md.) has been named to the All-Goucher First Team, adding to her various accolades from the 2016-17 academic year.
Stewart went on to earn four All-Landmark Conference honors over the course of the indoor and outdoor seasons. Her first honor came during the indoor championships where she placed second in the 60m dash with a time of 8.12 – a personal best for the sprinter – and a mark that stands seventh in Goucher history. Stewart also set a new school record in the 200m dash (26.82) with a fourth place finish in the event.
She also aided the Goucher 4x200 relay team of Anna Gallina, Laura Williams and Michell Wolinsky to a season-best 1:58.00 and a third-place finish at the Landmark Indoor Championships.
The Gophers went on to finish fifth at the indoor championships held at Susquehanna.
Stewart went on to improve during the outdoor season and earned three All-Conference honors. She was named the Landmark Conference Champion in the 200m dash with a time of 26.15; marking the sixth-best time in program history. She also went on to earn Second Team honors in the 100m dash and the long jump during the weekend.
Her time of 12.89 seconds was only .13 seconds behind the leader. She also went on to post the 5th longest jump in school history in the long jump at 5.25m. Only Destiny Phillips has jumped further than Stewart while wearing the blue & gold at Goucher.
Following the 2017 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Stewart was named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year – the first athlete from Goucher to win the honor since Phillips in 2012.
The Gophers finished in fourth place following the two-day event held at Moravian College, scoring 79 points (highest score since 2012 -98 points).
The All-Goucher Team is selected by a panel of athletic administrators and represents the 10 most distinguished student-athletes and most outstanding coach during an academic year. The All-Goucher team was established in 2010-11 and is selected annually.
From June 2nd, 2017 until June 16th, 2017 Goucher will unveil one new member of the 2016-17 All-Goucher Team every weekday at 2:30 p.m. For a complete list of last year's 2015-16 All-Goucher Team, click here.
