Javin Dodd Named Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
TOWSON, Md. – Goucher College Director of Athletics and Associate Dean of Students Andrew Wu announced Tuesday that Javin Dodd has been named Head Strength and Conditioning coach effective immediately. Dodd has been serving in the role in an acting capacity since October.
"I want to first thank the athletes and the coaches for embracing me so quickly," said Dodd. "They have made this new experience a great one and have given me their best effort from day one. The coaching staff and Andrew have been great and have taken me in like family."
"I aim to be an extension of all of the athletic programs here at Goucher and to help with the continuing of building student-athletes. I look forward to growing with the students and staff to discover, develop and dedicate the athletic program."
"Javin has been a fantastic addition to the department since he started working with the track and field teams," said Wu. "He beams with positive energy and is the perfect person to inspire our athletes to work hard and develop healthy habits. In his Acting role, I received nothing but great feedback from student-athletes and coaches, and I'm thrilled he will be staying on in a full-time, permanent position."
Dodd came to Goucher in January, 2021, joining the Goucher track and field staff as an assistant coach. He works primarily with the Gopher jumpers and has also overseen the team's strength and conditioning program.
Prior to Goucher Dodd served as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Alabama, where he worked with the Crimson Tide football, track and field and tennis teams. From 2012-17 Dodd was enlisted as a member of the U.S. Army based out of El Paso, Texas.
Dodd was a Division I track athlete at the University of South Alabama from 2007-11. He was a two-time All-American for the Jaguars and remains the program record holder in the long jump.
Dodd earned his bachelor's at the University of Alabama in Kinesiology in 2012 before going on to earn his Master's in Kinesiology at UA in 2019. He is finishing work on a second Master's in Sports Management/Coaching from West Virginia University with completion expected later this month.
