2021-22 All-Goucher Second Team
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College athletic department recently announced its 2021-22 All-Goucher Team. The All-Goucher Team, established in 2010-11, is selected by a panel of coaches and administrators and represents the 10 most distunguished athletes and most outstanding coach during an academic year.
The All-Goucher Team First Team will be profiled later this week.
Comprising the 2021-22 All-Goucher Team Second Team:
Tahira Bakare, sophmore, women's track and field (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll)
Bakare earned Landmark Conference Second Team All-Conference honors at the indoor track and field championship in the 60-meter dash after finishing second. She was also third in the 200-meter dash and a member of the 4x200 relay squad that finished fourth. In outdoor track Tahira finished third in the 100-meter dash at the conference championship and fifth in the 200. She was also part of the Gophers' 4x100 that placed third.
Cole Jackson, junior, equestrian (Denver, Colo./East)
Jackson was the IHSA Zone IV, Region I Champion in Open Flat and Regional Reserve Champion in Open Fences. Cole also captured the Region I Cacchione Rider title during the regular season. At the IHSA Zone championships, Jackson finished second in team Open Flat and fourth in Team Open Fences and seventh in individual Open Flat.
Calis Nguyen, first year, men's tennis (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods)
Nguyen finished Second Team All-Landmark Conference in both singles and doubles for the Landmark conference champion Gophers. Calis went 7-0 in conference action and 17-4 overall in singles and finished the season winning 12 straight singles matches. In doubles play he and Jackson Beam were 5-0 in conference doubles play and 9-5 overall.
Jeremiah Odubade, sophomore, men's soccer (Capital Heights, Md./Fairmont Heights)
Odubade was a First Team All-Landmark Conference selection, just the second Landmark First Team selection in program history. Jeremiah totaled 11 goals and three assists for 25 points, the most goals for a Gopher since 1996. Odubade led the conference in goals and points and was a one-time Landmark Offensive Athlete of the Week selection.
Belle St. Jean, sophomore, women's soccer (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee)
St. Jean finished as a Landmark Conference Second Team All-Conference selection. Belle, a defender, started all 15 games in which she appeared and led the Gopher defense as it posted four shutouts and recorded its lowest goals-against average (1.50) since the 2016 season.
