Riley Holmes Named Director of Athletic Communications
TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College Director of Athletics, Stephanie Johnson, announced today that Riley Holmes has been named the Director of Athletic Communications, effective July 1, 2025.
Holmes, a familiar face within Goucher Athletics, first joined the department in January 2024. She continued to grow in her role following the departure of Director Greg Royce in December 2024. Over the past year, she has taken on increasing responsibilities, including managing student-worker scheduling, coordinating broadcasts, overseeing social media, maintaining statistical records, and serving as the primary communications contact for women's basketball, men's lacrosse, tennis, golf, swimming, women's soccer, and field hockey. She also played a major role in planning and executing the department's end-of-year Athletics Celebration.
"I'm excited for Riley to step in the Director of Athletic Communications role full-time. Riley not only excelled in this role this past semester, but has proven that she is an innovative thinker, a dedicated leader, and has the growth mindset that we need to move Goucher Athletics to the next level." Said Johnson.
A native of Columbia, Maryland, Holmes graduated from the University of Maryland in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Psychology. She has professional experience with the Baltimore Orioles, serving both as a Gameday Member Services Representative and currently as a Membership Experience Representative. Most recently, she completed her master's in education from Goucher College with a focus in Athletic Program Leadership and Administration.
"Being able to work alongside Riley this spring, it was evident how passionate she is about this field," said Associate Director of Athletics/SWA Megan Fultz. "It has been exciting to watch her grow professionally and to witness her dedication, work ethic, and attention to detail. Riley's experience will be an asset as we build stronger partnerships across campus, and her love for Goucher and its student-athletes shines through in everything she does."
"I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to remain at Goucher in this role. I am looking forward to continuing to work with the student-athletes, coaches, athletic administration, and campus partners to showcase Goucher Athletics." said Holmes. "I want to thank Director of Athletics, Stephanie Johnson, Associate AD/SWA, Megan Fultz, Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Camp, and the entire search committee for their belief in my ability to contribute to the growth of Goucher Athletics."
