Gophers Expand Lead in Zone IV Region I Standings
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher opened up a commanding 34-point lead over George Washington in the 2013-14 IHSA Zone IV Region I standings today by earning 43 points at the region's second show of the season, which was hosted by Mount St. Mary's and conducted on the Goucher campus.

Goucher, today's high point college, raised its season total to 92 points. George Washington, which picked up 29 points, held on to second place in the standings with 58 points, three points ahead of Maryland. Mount St. Mary's was the reserve champion with 31 points and moved up to fourth place overall (54 points).
A Goucher rider came away with either a blue or a red ribbon in every point rider class today. After taking first place in open equitation on the flat and second in open equitation over fences, Joey Fink (Baltimore, Md./The Park School) competed with four other riders in a ride-off to determine the show's high point rider and was was declared the reserve high point rider.
In the intermediate division, Alison Radgowski (Northport, N.Y./Northport) was awarded first place in the flat phase and Ashley Bent (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) second in the jumping phase. Moriah Patashnik (Seattle, Wash./The Northwest School) claimed a blue ribbon in novice fences; Caroline Lurie (Los Angeles, Calif./Archer School) and Anna Carmichael (Colorado Springs, Colo./William J. Palmer) placed first and second, respectively, in novice flat.
With her performance today, Patashnik qualified to compete in novice fences at the Zone IV Region I Championships in March.
Sarah Lummis (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Erika Scott (Stonington, Conn./The Williams School) both came away blue ribbons in advanced walk-trot-canter.
