Four From Goucher Advance to Zone IV Championships
OATLAND, Md. — Three Goucher riders were crowned champions at the IHSA Zone IV Region I Championships and a fourth was the reserve champion in two different divisions at the IHSA Zone IV Region I Championships, conducted today at The Other Left Farm.
OATLAND, Md. — Three Goucher riders were crowned champions at the IHSA Zone IV Region I Championships and a fourth was the reserve champion in two different divisions at the IHSA Zone IV Region I Championships, conducted today at The Other Left Farm.
- Both of Region I's representatives in open equitation over fences at the Zone IV Championships one week from today will be from head coach Jen Bunty's squad as Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) was awarded first place and Ashley Bent (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville Area) was runner-up at today's show.
- Two Goucher riders will advance to the zone finals in novice equitation on the flat: Anna Carmichael (Colorado Springs, Colo./William J. Palmer) as the Region I champion and Bent as the region's second-place performer.
- Fanny Eaton (New York, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) was today's first-place finisher in walk-trot-canter equitation.
The champion and reserve champions from all five regions will gather for the Zone IV Championships next Saturday at the Hazelwild Farm Equestrian Center in Fredericksburg, Va., competing to advance as individuals to the IHSA National Horse Show in May. In addition, the two teams which will represent Zone IV in the Collegiate Cup Hunter Seat competition at nationals will be determined next weekend. They will come from the following regional champions: Goucher (Region I), Bridgewater (Region II), St. Andrews (Region III), Mary Washington (Region IV) and Virginia Tech (Region V).
