Hundley Paces Equestrian to Top Finish at American/Maryland IHSA Show
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - For the sixth straight show, senior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) won both her classes, as the Goucher College equestrian team was the highest scoring riding team once again on Sunday, collecting 44 points at an IHSA Show hosted by the University of Maryland and American University at The Other Left Farm.
GAITHERSBURG, Md. - For the sixth straight show, senior Cary Hundley (Ellicott City, Md.) won both her classes, as the Goucher College equestrian team was the highest scoring riding team once again on Sunday, collecting 44 points at an IHSA Show hosted by the University of Maryland and American University at The Other Left Farm.
For the sixth straight show, Goucher was the high scorer as a team with 44 points, besting reserve high point team Maryland, who finished with 31 points. Overall, Goucher bested 12 other colleges on the day,
On the day, Hundley continued to be impressive, as she won both the Open Flat and Open Fence races, marking the sixth straight show she has done so. Also on the weekend, Hundley showed at the Mid-Atlantic Equestrian Festival, taking the championship out of 140 riders on Saturday.
Elsewhere on Sunday, sophomore Victoria Wheeler (Kinnelon, N.J.) registered a first-place finish in Intermediate Flat, while first-year Adeline Callihan (Keene, N.H.) and senior Ari Schlossberg (Barrington, Ill.) both had top placements in Walk Trot Canter.
The final first-place finish on the day belonged to sophomore Cherise Madrid (Braintree, Mass.), who finished on top in Walk Trot.
Meanwhile, first-year Sarah Edmunds (Lancaster, Pa.) was second in Open Fences, while sophomore Annika Field (Clinton, Wash.) was second in Novice Flat. Senior Kyle Kihn (Boulder, Colo.) was also second in Walk Trot, while first-year Emily Fewster (Towson, Md.) placed third in Intermediate Fences.
Rounding out the top performances on the day for Goucher were senior Stephanie Detwiler (Lancaster, Pa.), who placed fourth in Walk Trot Canter and sophomore Rena DiPaula (Westminster, Md.), who was fifth in Novice Fences.
The Goucher College equestrian team returns to action on Saturday, December 2, as they travel to the Holiday Tournament of Champions in Findlay, Ohio.
