Four Riders Win Events At Maryland/American IHSA Show For Goucher Equestrian
GAITHERSBURG, Md. – Anna Wright (New Hope, Pa./New Hope Solebury) was one of four Goucher College riders to win an event while she also qualified for the IHSA Zone IV Region I Championship at the Maryland/American IHSA Show in equestrian action on Sunday. With one more competition before the region championships, the Gophers hold a 16 point lead with the team in search of its 11th-straight region title.
Wright qualified for the region championships after winning the limit flat. Juliette Colas (Paris, France/Ecole Planchat) and Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md./South River) also registered a first-place standings in the limit flat. Colas was making her collegiate debut in the competition.
Cole Jackson (Denver, Colo./East) won the intermediate flat and finished third in limit fences. Elizabeth Sheehy (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) placed second in pre-novice flat and Celeste Fazioli (Seabrook, Texas/Clear Falls) was third in limit fences.
Goucher will host the IHSA Mount St. Mary's Show on Saturday with 271 points in the region standings, 16 points ahead of George Washington University (255) while George Mason University (240), the University of Maryland (219), Georgetown University (208) and Towson University (200) all have over 200 points.
