Gophers Earn High Point Honors at GW/George Mason IHSA Show
NOKESVILLE, Va. - The Goucher College equestrian team accumulated 39 points and took high point team honors at its first IHSA show of the spring hosted by George Washington University and George Mason University on Saturday. George Mason was the reserve high point team with 37 points.
The Gophers posted six first place finishes on the afternoon. Cole Jackson (Denver, Colo./East) took first in Open Flat and placed second in Open Fences. Kellen Sullivan (Hampton, Va./Donald Sullivan) was first in Intermediate Flat.
Jacob Connell (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Hebron) was first in Limit Fences and second in Limit Flat. Elsa Sellmeyer (Silver Spring, Md.) finished first in Limit Flat.
Celeste Fazioli (Seabrook, Texas/Clear Falls) was first in Limit Fences, while Juliette Colas (Paris, France) finished first in Limit Flat.
Halle Taylor (Dakar, Senegal/International School of Dakar) placed fourth in Limit Flat and qualified for regionals.
Makaylin Shoop (Davidsonville, Md./South River) was third in Intermediate Fences. Cordelia Edwards (Los Angeles, Calif./Immaculate Heart) recorded a second place finish in Limit Flat.
Sarah Schultheis (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) was second in Limit Flat.
Karen O'Brien, Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) and Flannery Supplee (Monkton, Md./Hereford) each finished fifth in Limit Flat, while Kaia Shula (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) placed third in Novice Flat.
Lexi Mason (Lothian, Md./Southern) registered a fifth-place showing in Novice Flat, while Morgan Kingsbury was fourth in intro.
Goucher is back in action next Saturday when it hosts its third and final IHSA show of the season.
