Williams Takes Over as Head Field Hockey Coach

TOWSON, Md. — After conducting a national search to fill the position, Goucher College has selected Megan Williams to be its new head field hockey coach. She will begin her duties at the Division III institution on January 25.

Landmark Reveals All-Academic Team for Fall 2011

MADISON, N.J. — The Landmark Conference today announced the names of the 32 student-athletes who make up the 2011 Fall Landmark All-Academic Team, which recognizes two male and two female athletes who have excelled athletically and academically from each of the eight Landmark institutions.

Landmark Conference Issues Fall Academic Honor Roll

MADISON, N.J. — The Landmark Conference, which is in its fifth year of competition and is comprised of eight like-minded institutions in the mid-Atlantic region, today recognized 248 student-athletes for their academic accomplishments by placing them on the on the 2011 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. Twenty-nine of the honorees are from Goucher.

Greyhounds Stay in Contention for Berth in Playoffs

TOWSON, Md. — After 50 minutes, the scoreboard showed zeroes for both Goucher and Moravian in a Landmark Conference game being played this afternoon on Beldon Field. One reason the contest was still scoreless at that point was because the Gophers had been able to get off only one shot; another was that their goalkeeper was already approaching double digits in saves.

Mustangs Never Relinquish Lead, Knock Off Gophers

TOWSON, Md. — After not being able to get off a single shot in the first half, Goucher turned it up several notches on offense in the final 35 minutes of today's game against Stevenson. The extra effort was rewarded in the form of an unassisted goal by Rachel Ward (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville), but the Gophers still fell short on the scoreboard as the Mustangs prevailed 3-1.

Rangers Pull Away in Second Half for 4-1 Victory

TOWSON, Md. — Goucher and Drew traded goals in the first six minutes of today's Landmark Conference game on Beldon Field and reached halftime deadlocked at 1-1. Just 1:58 into the second half, however, the Rangers assumed a 2-1 advantage and went on to complete a 4-1 victory over head coach Whitney Raffo's Gophers.

No. 14 Cardinals Pin 10-0 Setback on Gophers

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Micki Manheimer (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) became the first Goucher goalie to make at least 20 saves in a game in more than four years when she stopped 20 shots in tonight's Landmark Conference game against Catholic. Unfortunately, her career-high performance didn't translate into a victory for the Gophers, who instead bowed to the nationally ranked Cardinals, 10-0.

EAST WHITELAND TWP., Pa. — There were still more than 15 minutes remaining today when two freshmen hooked up on a goal for Goucher that carved Immaculata's lead in half. But that turned out to be as close as the Gophers would get as the Mighty Macs held on for a 2-1 victory.

TOWSON, Md. — For the second time already this season, Justine Ruhlin (Cornish, Maine/Sacopee Valley) tallied the only goal in a victory for Goucher this afternoon. This time the freshman midfielder/forward's goal with 14:03 left to play accounted for all of the scoring in a 1-0 triumph over Albright.

BRYN MAWR, Pa. — An unassisted goal by Justine Ruhlin (Cornish, Maine/Sacopee Valley) 7:50 into overtime provided Goucher with a 1-0 triumph over Bryn Mawr, allowing the Gophers to remain undefeated and unscored upon so far in 2011.
