Field Hockey Drops Landmark Conference Home Opener to Scranton Saturday
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College field hockey team hosted their first Landmark Conference game of the season on Saturday at Beldon Field against Scranton, and the visiting Royals used a 5-0 run in the second half to roll to a 6-0 victory.

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College field hockey team hosted their first Landmark Conference game of the season on Saturday at Beldon Field against Scranton, and the visiting Royals used a 5-0 run in the second half to roll to a 6-0 victory.
With the defeat, Goucher fell to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the Landmark Conference, while Scranton improved to 9-1 overall and 1-1 in the Landmark with the victory.
In the loss, Scranton went up early, scoring a goal in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 edge on Goucher. That lead held through the rest of the first half, but in the second, Scranton scored five unanswered goals throughout the period to take the six-goal victory.
Overall in the defeat, Scranton and Goucher both took seven shots, overall, with the Gophers firing six shots alone in the second half. Scranton held an 8-2 edge on penalty corners, as senior Maya Belin (Baltimore, Md.) led the Gophers in the loss, taking four shots on the day.
The Goucher College field hockey team returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Hood for a non-conference match-up. Action gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
