Alumnae Spotlight: Field Hockey And Women's Lacrosse Player Emily Gill

Today we put the spotlight on former Goucher field hockey and women's lacrosse player Emily Gill: Gill is a 2015 graduate, who played on both the field hockey and women's lacrosse teams for the Gophers. She appeared and started in 49 games for the Goucher field hockey team with two goals and five assists for nine points with one game-winner and four defensive saves. She played in between the pipes for the Gophers women's lacrosse team, appearing in 39 games with 33 starts and 247 saves in her career.
Gill is currently on the Field Hockey All-Decade vote and fans have until Friday at 9 a.m. to vote! We have received almost 400 votes with a couple days left before we announce the team on Friday afternoon! CLICK HERE TO VOTE. Why did you choose Goucher College?
My dad, Tom Gill works at the college and I also loved the feel of the campus!
How did Goucher College prepare you for the real world?
Goucher prepared me for the real world by helping me stand up and advocate for myself. I learned how to hone in passions into something amazing!
How did being a student-athlete help shape you into the person you are today?
Being a student athlete helped me multi-task. It also helped me make friends and taught me how hard work does pay off!
What was your most memorable experience at Goucher athletically?
My most memorable experience at Goucher was winning a regular season game against Drew University to help our lacrosse team clinch a spot in playoffs!
What was your most non-athletic memorable experience at Goucher?
My favorite memory and experience was teaching in South Africa for study abroad.
What advice would you give current college students interested in pursuing a career in your field?
Work hard and don't be afraid to ask for help.
Looking back at your time at the Goucher, what advice would you give to current Goucher students or someone looking to come to the Goucher?
Don't forget to live a little and get outside the Goucher Bubble.
Give an update on what you have been up to since graduating from the Goucher College:
I have been a fifth grade teacher in Baltimore County. I also just received my master's in education from Loyola University. I am still playing field hockey adult leagues in Baltimore and loving every second of it!
