Moravian Eases Past Gophers, Foster Makes 13 Saves

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Moravian University scored four times in the first quarter en route to a 6-0 Landmark Conference field hockey victory over Goucher College at Beldon Field Saturday afternoon.
- Moravian (7-2, 1-1 Landmark) opened the scoring just 1:07 into the game on a Sydney Anderson goal.
- Goucher's (0-8, 0-2) Marcianna Tavani (Wilmington, Del. / Ridley) had a shot right after the Moravian goal that went wide.
- The Greyhounds also recorded goals in the 3rd, 7th and 10th minutes with Moravian having four different goal scorers.
- Goucher starting goalie Devin Brashear (Escondido, Calif. / San Pasqual) was relieved by Julia Foster (Pylesville, Md. / North Harford) at the start of the quarter.
- The Greyhounds had all four penalty corners and both shots of the period, with Foster stopping both.
- Moravian increased its lead to 5-0 on a Hanna Leto goal 5:19 into the second half.
- The Greyhounds had six shots in the frame and five penalty corners.
- Hannah Washburn (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford Mendon) had a shot just over a minute into the quarter that was blocked.
- Following a Gopher penalty corner, Washburn had another shot that was saved by Moravian goalie Brooke Wilkinson.
- Anderson closed out the scoring with her second goal of the afternoon with 10:56 left.
- Moravian held a 23-3 shot advantage and took 12 penalty corners.
- Foster. seeing her first action of the season in goal, made 13 saves.
- Brashear made three saves in the first 15 minutes.
- Goucher wraps up its three-game homestand Tuesday night, welcoming Notre Dame (Md.) to Beldon Field for a 7 pm contest.
