Gophers Blanked on Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Susquehanna scored three times in the second quarter en route to an 8-0 win over Goucher in Landmark Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field. The Gophers celebrated Senior Day and honored six seniors prior to the game.
- Susquehanna (16-3, 5-2 Landmark) generated the first penalty corner of the game just under two minutes in.
- Devin Brashear (Escondido, Calif. / San Pasqual) made her first save of the game for Goucher (1-13, 0-7) in the fifth minute.
- Brashear stopped all four shots she faced in the opening frame as the River Hawks had five penalty corners.
- Susquehanna scored three times in a span of 4:24 late in the half to lead 3-0 at intermission.
- Katie Koch made it 1-0 in the 25th minute, then Rebecca Ripans scored at 26:23 and Sam Banks at 29:03.
- Brashear posted a pair of saves in the frame.
- Katie Bucher scored at 37:47 to extend the lead to 4-0, then Banks' second goal of the game made it 5-0 at 42:59.
- Brashear made two saves before being relieved by Julia Foster (Pylesville, Md. / North Harford) midway through the period.
- Susquehanna scored its final three goals in the first 3:05 of the fourth.
- Gillian Sickler (Alexandria, Va. / West Potomac) made a pair of saves in the final frame for Goucher.
- The River Hawks extended their win streak to seven.
- Before the game, the Gophers honored seniors Brashear, Sickler, Emily Postlethwait (Herndon, Va. / Herndon), Jaime Roche (Baltimore, Md. / Eastern Technical), Hannah Washburn (Pittsford, N.Y. / Pittsford Mendon) and Mia Wiggins (San Diego, Calif. / University City). Goucher also recognized "super senior" Alexyss Pawlak (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Edison)
- Goucher closes out its season Tuesday night when it hosts Lancaster Bible in a 6 pm non-conference contest at Beldon Field.
