Mikles Posts Hat Trick, Gophers Move to 2-0

TOWSON, Md. - Junior Zoe Mikles recorded the first hat trick by a Goucher College field hockey player in nearly two years as she scored all three goals in the Gophers' 3-1 win over Meredith College at Beldon Field Monday afternoon. The Gophers sit 2-0 for the first time since 2014.
- Goucher (2-0) generated a penalty corner in the second minute of the game that saw a shot by Isa Schenk get saved by Meredith (0-2) goalie Shae-Lynn Henderson.
- Henderson turned aside three more shots in a span of 1:18 in the fifth minute.
- Goucher outshot the Avenging Angels 12-4 in the opening frame, with Henderson maing eight stops.
- Gopher goalie Katie Bloom had three saves of her own.
- Mikles scored her first goal 1:29 into the second as she weaved past two Meredith defenders and beat Henderson 1v1.
- Just past the 19-minute mark, Mikles struck again, as she tipped a shot from the top of the circle by Kaitlyn Bucci that trickled past the goal line to make it 2-0.
- Bloom made three saves with around five minutes left to keep Meredith off the board and Goucher went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
