Baltimore, MD: Widener's Kayleigh Armstrong netted a hat trick as the Pride move past the Gophers 3-0 in non-conference field hockey at Beldon Field on Sunday.
- Widener's (5-6) attack started off strong getting four penalty corners in the first quarter.
- Goucher (7-5) goalie Katie Bloom made her first save of the afternoon at the 5:01 mark, one of two in the quarter.
- The Gophers played most of the first quarter in the defensive zone being held to no shots in the quarter.
- Bloom made her third save of the game off the Pride's penalty corner.
- Kayleigh Armstrong opened up the scoring two minutes later as she put one by Bloom at the 22:53 mark for her first goal of the game.
- Goucher got their first shot off from Kaitlyn Bucci that was turned away by Widener goaltender Abby Blake.
- Widener's Olivia Deysher recieved the second card of the afternoon as she was shown a yellow card.
- Bloom started the fourth off with a string of back to back saves in close to start out the fourth.
- Kayleigh Armstrong got her second and third goals of the game in succesion in the 53 and 56th minutes of the game. The third was a penalty stroke.
- Widener subbed out Blake and Brittany Mattoi played the remaining 5 minutes of the game for the Pride.
- The Pride outshot the Gophers 14-1.
- Bloom recorded nine saves for the Gophers as Abby Blake only was forced to make one save.
- Goucher is back in action Wednesday evening when it hosts Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna in a 6pm game at Beldon Field.
