Blue Jays Use Quick Start to Down Gophers

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Two goals in the game's first 4:10 proved to be the difference as Elizabethtown College downed Goucher College 2-0 in Landmark Conference field hockey Saturday afternoon at Wolf Field.
- Goucher (7-9, 1-7) generated a penalty corner less than a minute in.
- Elizabethtown (7-7, 4-4 Landmark) got on the board just 1:36 into the game on a Hannah Long goal.
- The Blue Jays made it 2-0 at the 4:10 mark on a Drew Bridges tally.
- Katie Bloom made a pair of saves for the Gophers in the opening frame.
- Kaitlyn Bucci had a pair of shots for the guests, with one going wide and one being blocked.
- Makayla Batts had a pair of shots blocked for Goucher three minutes into the second.
- The Gophers had four penalty corners in the first four minutes of the frame.
- Bloom made four saves in the second.
- Bucci had a shot saved by Etown goalie Rachel Murphy in the waning moments of the first half.
- Bloom turned aside six shots by the Blue Jays in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
