TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher men's basketball program looks to continue the steady improvements they have made over the past 2 seasons under Coach Tom Rose. Last year the team finished with a 5-20 record overall and tied for 7th place in the Landmark Conference.
Top returning players for this young Gopher squad include sophomore guard and captain Dwayne Morton (Waynesville, Mo.) and junior guard and captain Uvan Stewart (Frederick, Md.). Key newcomers are first-year forward Jacob Smith (Callaway, Va), who was named a first team all-state player in Virginia and junior forward Ahmet Bademkiran (Diyarbakir, Turkey), who will provide some needed size in the frontcourt.
Coach Rose states "The team is committed to improving every day. They bring a great energy to practice and a strong willingness to learn. I'm eager to watch this young team grow through the season. We have 9 new players (6 freshmen, 3 transfers), so this team will take time to come together."
Men's basketball opens up the season with 3 home games at the Decker Center, the first of which will be against Wilson at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, November 15.
