Men's Golf Second at Marlin Invitational
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Goucher College men's golf team sits second out of six teams at Virginia Wesleyan's Marlins Invitational after the completion of day one of play on Saturday at Cypress Point Country Club. The Gophers posted a score of 327 (+39), six shots back of tourney-leading Averett University.
Jose Maria Gallegos (Ahome, Mexico/Montverde Academy) led the Gophers as he is tied for fourth with a seven-over 79 on the par-72, 6,541-yard layout. He and Walt Potters of Marymount (Va.) are two shots back of a three-way tie for the lead at 77.
Tim Winter (Howey In The Hills, Groningen / Harens Lyceum) is one shot back of Gallegos and six alone in sixth. Khai Buttner (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) carded an 83 and is tied for ninth.
Miguel Reider (Mexico City, Mexico / Tecnológico de Monterrey) fired an 85 while Nick Fisher (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) posted a score of 87.
Action in the Marlins Invitational wraps up Sunday.
