Dutchmen Outlast Gophers 13-8

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Host Lebanon Valley College extended an 8-5 lead with three unanswered goals in the third quarter and outdueled Goucher College 13-8 in non-conference men's lacrosse Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field.
- LVC (3-2) got two goals from Evan Fedorowicz at 14:27 and 8:22 to give the Dutchmen an early 2-0 lead.
- Goucher (0-5) got on the board with 5:12 left in the quarter on a goal by Jared Heath (Windham, N.H./New Hampton).
- The Dutchmen extended the lead to 3-1 with 3:38 left before Jack McDermott (Wilmington, Del/The White Mountain School) scored his first collegiate goal with 1:50 left in the frame to pull the Gophers within 3-2. Heath assisted on the tally.
- Lebanon Valley scored two goals in the first 48 seconds of the second then added goals at 11:06 and 8:29 to build a 7-2 lead.
- Dylan White (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) recorded his first collegiate goal with 5:51 left before halftime.
- White assisted on Goucher's next goal, a man-up tally by Jared Halverson (Durham, N.C./Charles E. Jordan) with 4:04 left before halftime.
- The Dutchmen scored 42 seconds later to reclaim a four-goal lead.
- Halverson struck again with just over a minute to go before halftime with Ben Smith (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) assisting.
- After outshooting Goucher 20-19 in the first half, LVC generated a 15-5 shot advantage in the third quarter.
- LVC had three different goalscorers in the third, with an Alex Kiviniemi tally with 7:08 lead making it 11-7.
- Just over three minutes into the second half Smith scored on a feed from McDermott to make it 11-6.
- Heath scored his second goal of the game at the 9:17 mark to pull the Gophers back to within 11-7.
- Two LVC goals just over a minute apart, the first a man-up tally, extended the hosts' lead back to six with 3:07 to go.
- Heath capped his hat trick with a goal with 1:54 on the clock. Halverson recorded the assist.
- LVC outshot Goucher 46-35 and won 17-of-25 faceoffs.
- The hosts were 3-5 on man-up opportunities, with the Gophers 1-7 in man-up situations.
- Heath finished with three goals and an assist, while Halverson notched two goals and an assist.
- Halverson is the lone Goucher player to score in each of the first five games.
- McDermott, Smith and Oscar Hernandez-Genovez (Germantown, Md./Quince Orchard) each had three ground balls to pace the Gophers.
- Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's School) stopped 13 of the 26 shots he faced on goal.
