Gophers Post First Win, Upend Immaculata 10-4

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's lacrosse team never trailed, jumping out to a 4-1 first quarter lead and recording a 10-4 non-conference victory over Immaculata University at Beldon Field Monday evening.
- Goucher (1-6) got on the board with just over eight minutes left in the first qyarter as Dylan White (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) scored on a feed from Milan Temple (Joppatowne, Md./Concordia Prep).
- Temple made it 2-0 with his unassisted tally at the 6:21 mark.
- Immaculata (1-3) converted a man-up opportunity with 4:47 on the clock.
- Ben Smith (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) made it 3-1 for the Gophers just over a minute later, then Temple's second goal of the quarter put the hosts up 4-1.
- Smith added his second tally of the game at the 11:15 mark.
- A man-up goal by Alec Poblenz (Atlanta, Ga./Roswell) 46 seconds later extended the Gopher lead to 6-1. It marked Poblenz' first career goal.
- Temple's third of the game made it 7-1 4:46 before halftime.
- The Mighty Macs scored twice in the final 3:19 of the first half to pull within 7-3 at intermission.
- Jared Heath (Windham, N.H./New Hampton) got on the board for Goucher just over three minutes into the second half.
- Anthony Inserra scored for the guests with exactly five minutes remaining.
- Poblenz recorded his second man-up tally of the game with 2:20 to go to make it 9-4.
- Goucher outshot Immaculata 11-8 in the final quarter and forced Cole Metzger to make seven saves.
- Jared Halverson (Durham, N.C./Charles E. Jordan) closed out the scoring for the Gophers with 6:36 on the clock.
- Goucher outshot Immaculata 44-38 on the evening.
- Temple's four goals were a career-high and he also added an assist.
- Poblenz and Smith each scored twice, with Smith taking a team-high 13 shots.
- Heath recorded a goal and three assists, while White added a goal and an assist.
- Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's School) made 15 saves in goal.
- Sean Nolan (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) had five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
- Dwayne Barnes, Jr. (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) picked up four ground balls and caused two Immaculata turnovers.
- Goucher committed a season-low 13 turnovers.
- Oscar Hernandez-Genovez (Germantown, Md./Quince Orchard) won 9-of-17 faceoffs
- The Gophers continue their five-game homestand on Wednesday night, hosting Messiah in a 7 pm contest at Beldon Field.
