Third Quarter Flurry Moves Mighty Macs Past Gophers

IMMACULATA, Pa. - After Goucher College tied the game 3-3 late in the third quarter, host Immaculata responded with five straight goals in the final three minutes of the frame en route to a 9-5 non-conference men's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.
- Immaculata (3-2) got on the board just under four minutes in following a goal by Bailey Manion.
- The Mighty Macs made it 2-0 at the 8:58 mark.
- Goucher (1-5) got its first goal when Ben Smith (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) scored, with Jacob Morgan (Bowie, Md./Bowie) assisting with 7:38 left in the quarter.
- IU scored eight seconds later off the ensuing faceoff to make it 3-1.
- Goucher outshot Immaculata 10-8 in the opening period.
- Smith had the only goal of the second quarter 5:12 into the quarter.
- The Gophers outshot the Mighty Macs 13-6 in the quarter and had a pair of extra-man opportunities but failed to cash in.
- Goucher goalie Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's School) made five saves in the frame.
- Goucher tied the game with just under five minutes to go in the quarter as Milan Temple (Joppatowne, Md./Concordia Prep) scored to make it 3-3.
- Immaculata responded with five straight goals in the final 2:59 of the quarter and a goal by Ben Wesolowski with two seconds left gave the hosts an 8-3 lead.
- Temple notched his second of the game 59 seconds into the final period to cut the lead to 8-4.
