Men's Soccer Falls, 5-2, at Washington (Md.)

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Host Washington (Md.) opened a 3-1 lead early in the second half and never looked back, taking a 5-2 victory over the Goucher College men's soccer team on Tuesday night.

With the loss, Goucher fell to 5-11-1 overall for the year, while Washington improved to 6-7-3 with the victory.

To start the match, Washington scored the games first goal in the third minute to take an early 1-0 lead on the Gophers.

Goucher, however, countered the score in the 24th minute, as first-year Michael St. Ledger (Chester, Md.) scored the first goal of his collegiate career to knot the match up at 1-1.

Washington, however, scored again before intermission, tallying a goal in the 25th minute to go up, 2-1, on the Gophers. That lead held into halftime, as in the second half, Washington tacked on three unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead late in the contest.

Goucher ended the scoring for the night in the 85th minute, as junior Brandon Cohen (Redondo Beach, Calif.) scored his seventh goal of the year for the Gophers. First-year Jack Tchantchuing-Ngoko (Silver Spring, Md.) was credited with an assist on the score, as well.

Overall in the match, Goucher ended up outshooting Washington by a slim 14-13 margin, while also holding a 10-6 edge on corner kicks.

The Goucher College men's soccer team concludes their 2018 season on Saturday, as they take on Moravian in a Landmark Conference showdown at Beldon Field. The match, which will also serve as the programs Senior Day, begins at 1 p.m.
