Goucher Men's & Women's Swimming Go 1-1 in Conference Tri-Match
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Goucher College men’s and women’s Swimming team traveled up to Huntingdon, Pa. to take on Juniata and Scranton in a Landmark Conference tri-match on Saturday. Both teams ended up with one win and one loss after the event.
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Goucher College men's and women's Swimming team traveled up to Huntingdon, Pa. to take on Juniata and Scranton in a Landmark Conference tri-match on Saturday. Both teams ended up with one win and one loss after the event.
On the day, the men's team lost to Scranton with a final score of 188 - 59. The men managed to defeat Juniata 107 - 116. Ultimately, the team scored a total of 175 points.
The women's team also lost to Scranton with a score of 202 - 53. In the defeat of Juniata, the score was 114 - 129. Throughout the event, the women earned 182 points.
While neither of the teams captured any first-place finishes, women's team members Hallie Stewart placed third in the Women's 200 SC Meter Freestyle (2:28.22), Ila Jackson finished second in the 50 SC Meter Freestyle (29.74) and the 100 SC Meter Freestyle (1:07.70); and Kathryn Shannon obtained a third-place finish in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle (5:06.05).
The men's team also had some impressive placements on Saturday. Jackson Penner finished second in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle (2:11.85); Marcus Montiano and Ryan Freeburg tied for third in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke (1:17.70); Jacy Macconvery placed third in the 200 SC Meter Breaststroke (2:52.20); and Penner, Montisano, Freeburg, and Gang took second place in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:47.32.
The Goucher College Men's and Women's Swimming teams will be back in action on November 17th at Catholic for another Landmark Conference matchup.
