The award is presented annually to recognize coaches on the collegiate level who provide a leadership role in increasing tennis participation throughout his or her community, both on and off campus.
Vann was chosen as the winner for the Mid-Atlantic
section, which includes Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. He is
one of only three sectional winners who are currently coaching at a
Division III institution.
"I'm delighted that the two organizations chose to
recognize Coach Vann for his leadership role in promoting and
organizing campus and community programming that encourages
participation in the sport of tennis," commented Geoffrey M.
Miller, Goucher's athletics director.
From the list of 13 sectional winners, the USTA Collegiate
Varsity Committee selected Claire Pollard, head women's tennis
