Undefeated Juniata Ends Goucher's Landmark Season

Seth Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) and David Spivey (Cockeysville, Md./The Park School) earned a tight 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles to pick up the lone point for the Gophers (6-12, 2-5 Landmark). The victory was the third straight for the tandem, and they are now 5-2 in conference matches this season.
The Eagles (16-0, 7-0 Landmark) can clinch a perfect regular season with a win at Gettysburg tomorrow.
Spivey came closest to earning a second point for Goucher before ultimately dropping a 6-1, 2-6, 1-0 (10-4) decision to Bryan Gregory at No. 2 singles. Juniata won the remaining five singles matches in straight sets.
The Gophers have won last home match this season, a 4 p.m. tilt against Hood on Monday. The match, which was originally scheduled for April 6, will be the last at home for Spivey, and the two-year team captain will be recognized beforehand.
