Gophers Blank Crosstown Rival Stevenson, 9-0
The Goucher College men’s tennis team (10-8, Landmark 2-1) dominated Stevenson University, 9-0, in a non-conference matchup at home on Sunday.
TOWSON, Md. – The Goucher College men's tennis team (10-8, Landmark 2-1) dominated Stevenson University, 9-0, in a non-conference matchup at home on Sunday during Senior Day.
Senior Chad Resnik (Miami, Fla.) and junior Britton Shortle (Winter Park, Fla.) handled Tony Beres and Kevin Slujtner 8-2 en route to a Gopher sweep in doubles play.
Junior Josh Goldberg (Centreville, Md.) and Resnik wrapped up their flights first in singles play. Goldberg took down Peter Appiah 6-0, 6-2 while Resnik dealt a loss to Slujtner 6-0, 6-2.
Freshman Frankie Mullinix (Washington, D.C.) did not drop a game to Wornden Ly at No. 2 singles, grabbing a 6-0, 6-0 win. Junior Jake Brazeau (Greenville, S.C.) also added a win on the day, giving Beres a 6-2, 6-2 loss. Goucher continued to shut out the Mustangs the rest of the way down the stretch to earn their 10th win of the season.
Senior Midori Fujitani (Tokyo, Japan) completed what could be his final match on the Goucher Tennis Courts with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Douglas Vaughn at No. 3 singles.
