Adebamgbe Earns Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete Of The Week Honors
BALTIMORE, Md. – Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion), a member of the Goucher College men's tennis team, has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the week of April 5-11. It is his first conference weekly honor.
Adebamgbe only allowed one game in two singles and two doubles matches on the weekend. The sophomore won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles against Elizabethtown on Saturday, and then forced indoors against Moravian on Sunday won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In doubles, Adebamgbe and Slade Dumas (Great Falls, Va./Dominion) won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles against both Elizabethtown and Moravian.
The sophomore is now 5-1 in singles matches in Landmark Conference play in his career and has won his last five matches. Adebamgbe and Dumas are now 11-0 all-time in regular-season conference matches in their career. The duo was named to the All-Landmark Conference second team for doubles in 2019.
It marks the second-straight week in a row a Goucher player has earned the top billing for men's tennis. Dumas took home the award for the fourth time in his career last week. Adebamgbe now joins the club with his first Athlete of the Week honor, while teammate Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Select) is the third member of the squad to earn the weekly award in the fall of 2019.
Goucher returns to action on Wednesday at Catholic. The match time is 3 p.m.
