Gophers Blank Juniata in Conference Opener

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's tennis team opened Landmark Conference play Sunday with a 9-0 victory over Juniata College at the Schroedl Tennis Center on Sunday morning.
- Goucher (4-5, 1-0 Landmark) took all three doubles matches over Juniata (8-3, 0-1) by 8-1 scores.
- Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion) were victorious at No. 1.
- Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C.) and Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) posted an 8-1 triumph at No. 2.
- Angel Cerpa (El Paso, Texas/Americas) and Joshua Noel (Ennis, Texas/Ennis) were victorious at No. 3.
- Four of Goucher's singles wins were in straight sets.
- Kane was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 1, while Noel prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
- Nguyen prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4.
- Ryan Wartenberg (Haddon Heights, N.J./Haddon Heights) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No, 6.
- Adebamgbe won his match at No. 2 6-3, 6-0, while Beam was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5.
- Beam won his fourth straight singles match, while Nguyen won his third in a row.
- The Gophers improved to 3-0 at home this season.
- Goucher won its Landmark Conference opener for the seventh straight year.
- Goucher is slated to return to action Wednesday when it hosts McDaniel in a 4 pm non-conference matchup at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
