Gophers Blanked by No. 3 Tufts in NCAA Second Round

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Goucher College men's tennis team saw its season come to a close on Saturday as it fell 5-0 to third-ranked Tufts University in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship at the Brigade Sports Complex on Saturday. The Gophers, who were making their fifth NCAA appearance in six seasons, finish 13-8 overall.
- Tufts (18-2) did not drop a game as it swept all three doubles matches by 8-0 scores.
- The Jumbos clinched the match with wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles.
- Brian Kane (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) each led early in the first set at No. 1 and No. 5 before dropping 6-3 decisions in the first set.
- Goucher advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in its five trips.
- Tufts is the highest-ranked team the Gophers have faced in the NCAA tournament. Goucher took on No. 4 Williams in 2018.
- The loss wrapped up the careers of seniors Kane and Omosesan Adebamgbe (Philadelphia, Pa./Lower Merion).
