Gophers Ground Eagles to Wrap Up Regular Season

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Goucher College closed out its' men's tennis regular season with an 8-1 win over Juniata College at the Raffensperger Courts in Landmark Conference play Friday afternoon.
- Goucher (7-9, 6-1 Landmark) swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead over Juniata (5-8, 1-6).
- Gabe Naftoly (Newburyport, Mass./Berwick Academy) and Theo Lucke (Ahlen, Germany / Städtisches Gymnasium Ahlen) blanked their opponents 8-0 at No. 3.
- Tadeo Asprella (La Plata, Argentina / Instituto Jose Manuel Estrada) and Angel Cerpa (El Paso, Texas/Americas) picked up an 8-1 win at No. 2.
- Jackson Beam (Knightdale, N.C./Knightdale) and Calis Nguyen (Houston, Texas/School of the Woods) were 8-3 winners at No. 1.
- Beam posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3 to make the match score 4-0.
- Nguyen clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
- Asprella (6-1, 6-0) Naftoly (6-0, 6-0) and Lucke (6-4, 6-4) swept the fourth through sixth flights.
- Goucher is 6-2 over its last eight matches.
- Asprella earned his team-high 13th singles win of the season, while Naftoly won his 12th.
- Nguyen and Beam each picked up their 10th singles victories of the season.
- Goucher is the. No. 2 seed in next week's Landmark Conference Championship.
- The Gophers will host a Landmark semifinal on Tuesday, April 25, with match time to be announced.
