Men's Tennis Appears in First NCAA Regional Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS - The Goucher College men's tennis team is one of eight teams ranked in the initial NCAA Division III men's tennis regional rankings in Region III, it was revealed Thursday morning. This week's initial rankings are released in alphabetical order and teams are not ranked.
Goucher is the lone Landmark Conference team appearing in the regional rankings. Five Centennial Conference schools (Franklin & Marshall, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, Swarthmore and Washington College) and Stevens of the MAC Freedom also appear in the Region III rankings.
Gopher first year Unai Laguardia Alvarez is also listed as under consideration for the NCAA Division III singles championship. Laguardia Alvarez has played at No. 1 singles for Goucher this season and has earned five dual match singles wins.
Goucher is in action Thursday afternoon, hosting Catholic University at 3:30 pm.
