Goucher's Tournament Run Ends After Defeat by Third Ranked Tufts
BEVERY, Mass. - The Goucher College Gophers NCAA Tournament run ends after a 4-0 defeat to Tufts University, who currently sits third in the nation.
The doubles point was secured in 28 minutes, after Gabe Naftoly and Benedikt Rummel fell 6-1 to their opponents, followed by Tadeo Asprella and George King losing 6-2. This left the No. 3 doubles match unfinished, with Guilherme Moraes and Jackson Beam down 5-3 at the time the match concluded.
All three points secured in the singles matches for Tufts were a results of straight set wins without letting up a game (6-0, 6-0). The Jumbos were ahead in the remaining singles matches, all up after the first set. Rummel was down 5-0 in the second at the time the match ended, Calsi Nguyen was down 4-1, and George King was down 5-0.
The concludes the 2025 postseason run for the Gophers who saw success throughout the season. They earned their seventh Landmark Conference Championship, earned Landmark MVP and Player of the Year, and capped this with numerous All-Conference Honors.
