Tenure, Rooney Earn Points in 400 Hurdles

The best showing for a Goucher individual during the two-day event was the fourth-place performance by Steven Tenure (Sudbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) in the 400-meter hurdles. The freshman completed the event in :58.79, earning five points for the Gophers. Goucher picked up two additional points in the 400 hurdles thanks to Charlie Rooney (Sea Bright, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy), who placed seventh with a time of 1:01.28.
The Gophers also had a relay place as high as fourth. In the 4 x 400-meter event, the quartet of Tade Ade-Turton (Ocean City, MD/Parkside), Tenure, Adam Scipione (Walpole, MA/Walpole) and Rooney took fourth place and broke the school record with its time of 3:31.29.
In the 4 x 100-meter relay, Tenure, Rooney, Brendan Ference (Smallwood, NY/Monticello) turned in a combined time of :46.49, good for fifth place.
Ference placed sixth in the decathlon with 4,047 points, the highest score in the history of Goucher's men's track and field program in the 10-event competition.
Ade-Turton secured points for Goucher in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes: He placed fifth in the 100 (:11.40) and seventh in the 200 (:23.28). Rooney completed the 400-meter dash in :52.19, good for eighth place, which is where Zach Martin (Victor, NY/Victor Central) placed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:17.43).
