NEW ORLEANS, LA - Cumulative grade-point averages surpassing 3.0 have earned both of Goucher's track and field programs academic recognition from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Goucher's women's program was one of 73 from Division III institutions throughout the nation which today was designated as a 2007 All-Academic Team by the USTFCCA. The honor goes to programs in which the entire active roster attains a 3.0 or higher GPA and the combined GPA of the member of head coach John Caslin's squad at the conclusion of the 2006-07 academic year was 3.450.
Only 11 Division III women's programs carry higher cumulative GPAs than Goucher and this is the fourth consecutive year that Caslin's women have qualified for the All-Academic Team Award from the USTFCCCA.
In all, 47 Division III men's programs were also recognized by the organization as 2007 All-Academic Teams. Goucher, based on a combined GPA of 3.130, made the list for the third year in a row.
"Consistently, our track and field programs, as well as our cross country teams, which are also under Coach Caslin's direction, have achieved a tremendous amount of academic success over the years, and for that we are very proud of the student-athletes who make up those programs," declared Geoff Miller, Goucher's athletics director.
