Freshman Shares Sixth Place in 55 Dash with Bowie St. Runner
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. — Goucher's Chris Litz (Bel Air,
Md./John Carroll) added 12 inches to the indoor school
record for the pole vault when he cleared 14-feet to finish in
first place in that event at today's Ursinus Winter
Invitational.
Litz earned 10 points for the Gophers with his first-place performance, which was more than the point totals for three of the teams which competed in the indoor meet. Goucher finished in 14th place with a team score of 12.50 points.
The other 2.50 points for the Gophers were secured by Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) in the 55-meter dash. The freshman completed the event in :06.76 and a tie for sixth place with Darren Williams from Bowie St.
Evans also placed 11th overall in the 200-meter dash and, in the history of Goucher's men's indoor track and field program, only one individual posted a faster time in the event than the :24.34 turned in by the freshman today.
Joey Negreann (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Scott Wenzler (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) were both close to scoring points for the Gophers at today's meet. Negreann placed 10th in the men's mile run (4:55.18) and Wenzler wound up tied for 10th with Justin Turner from Gwynedd-Mercy in the long jump (19-feet, 9.75-inches).
