NEWARK, Del. — Goucher's Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) not only took first place among Division II/III athletes in the pole vault competition at today's Delaware Invitational, but the senior also outperformed all of the Division I entrants.
Litz cleared 15-feet, which was 4-feet, 6-inches higher than Bradley Boe from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, who was runner-up in the Division II/III grouping. In Division I, the winner was Joe Passalaqua, an unattached competitor who cleared 14-feet and Chris Dougherty from Villanova (13-6.25) was second.
The 10 points Litz earned for placing first allowed Goucher to finish in sixth place in the Division II/III team scoring.
