ANNVILLE, Pa. — Record-breaking performances by Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) accounted for two of the five first places realized by Goucher athletes at today's Lebanon Valley Indoor Invitational.
Negreann was the first runner across the finish line in the 3,000-meter run and his winning time of 9:08.12 was more than 27 seconds faster than the indoor school record set last season by Zach Martin. In addition, he lowered the facility record in the 3K (9:16.00) by nearly eight seconds.
In completing the 500-meter dash in 1:11.21, Browne finished first among the 22 entrants and broke a school record set by Ryan Mease that dated back to 2001.
Browne also ran the final leg on Goucher's victorious entry in the 4 x 400-meter relay. The foursome of Brian Gautier (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.), Doug Falk (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.), Andrew Gethins (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) and Browne posted a time of 3:48.86, beating out York for first place in the event by 65-hundredths of a second.
Falk took first place in the high jump by clearing 6-feet; Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) bested the other eight entrants in the pole vault competition, going out at 14-feet, 6-inches.
There were 29 entrants in the 800-meter run and Gautier placed third overall with his time of 2:11.95. Mark Renehan (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) took fifth place in the weight throw (35-feet, 6.5-inches).
