Evans Captures Landmark Title in 60-Meter Dash
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) became the first athlete from Goucher to place first in an individual event at the Landmark Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships when he was first across the finish line in the 60-meter dash at the 2011-12 meet, which was conducted today.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) became the first athlete from Goucher to place first in an individual event at the Landmark Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships when he was first across the finish line in the 60-meter dash at the 2011-12 meet, which was conducted today.
Goucher's entry in the distance medley relay was also victorious today as the Gophers scored 62 points to finish in fifth place in the team scoring.
Evans' winning time in the 60 dash was 7.13 seconds. In the preliminaries, he was clocked at 7.10 seconds, which is a new school record.
Representing Goucher in the distance medley were Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School), Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point), Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) and Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek). The unit completed the event in 10:44.28, which is also the fastest time in the history of Goucher's men's indoor track and field program for the event.
There were three additional school records set at today's meet: one by Browne, who placed second in the 400-meter dash with his time of 51.74 seconds, one by Negreann in the 5000 meters where his time of 15:20.74 made him the runner-up and one by Goucher's entry in the 4 x 400-meter relay which included Byrum, Manuel Carranza (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton), Doug Falk (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.) and Browne and finished in third place (3:36.04).
Falk and Evans were two of the three athletes who went out at 6' in the high jump competition, which was won by Moravian's Jonathan Heberling with an effort of 6' 2". Based on the number of attempts, Falk finished in a tie for second with Susquehanna's Brian Etz and Evans was awarded fourth place.
Carranza took third place in the 400 dash, one spot behind Browne, by completing the event in 52.29 seconds.
Lovell Kosh (Chester, Pa./Christiana) came up with a throw of 39' 11.25" to finish in sixth place in the weight throw.
