Gophers Come Away with 11 Points in Pair of Relays

CARLISLE, Pa. — By scoring 11 points in two relays, Goucher was able to finish in ninth place in the final team standings at today's DuCharme Invitational.
The Gophers earned sixth points for a third-place finish in the distance medley relay. The foursome of Anthony Lee (Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River), Isaac Jennings (Narberth, Pa./Harriton), Hugh Geller (Devens, Mass./Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School) and Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) completed the event in an aggregate time of 12:20.7.
The remaining five points were earned by Goucher's entry of Jennings, Lee, Mark Egan (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) and Geller with took fourth place in the men's 4 x 800-meter relay. The group's combined time of 9:01.64 is the second-fastest for the event in the history of the school's indoor track and field program.
Individually, Byrum was clocked at 39.30 seconds in the 300-meter dash, good for 10th place in a field of 19 runners, and Lee was 12th among the 25 competitors in the 3,000 meters with his time of 9:46.01.
