Gunter Leads Goucher Track And Field At Patriot Games
FAIRFAX, Va. - Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) paced the Goucher College track and field team with a pair of 13th-place standings at the Patriot Games on Saturday.
Gunter finished 13th in both the shot put (10.23m) and the weight throw (12.13m) to notch the lone Top-15 finishes in a meet that including several Division I and Division II programs.
Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS) posted a personal-best time in the 60-meter dash (8.70) to finish in 19th place and also placed 24th in the 200-meter dash (28.72).
Mikayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) finished 19th in the weight throw (9.31m) while Victoria Wheeler placed 23rd in the 400-meter dash (1:20.78). In the 1-mile run, Laila Hanson (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) (26th place, 6:08.78) and Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) (28th place, 6:38.23) competed in the event.
On the men's side Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland) paced the team with 16th-place standing in the shot put (12.09m) with the seventh-best toss in school history and he also finished 18th in the weight throw (10.64m).
Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown) also joined the record books after finishing 17th in the weight throw (12.21m) with the fourth-best throw in team history. Bauer also placed 23rd in the shot put (10.85m).
Joseph Rhodenhiser (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) had a long day, but etched his name into the record books with a pair of Top-6 finishes. He placed 20th in the 500-meter dash (1:17.19) with the fifth-best time in school history and finished 26th in the 1000-meter dash (3:04.91) with the six fastest time in team history.
Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) placed 26th in the shot put (11.17) while Langston Henry (New York, N.Y./Grace Church School) (29th place, 25.55) and Kai Miller (Harlem, N.Y.) (30th place, 27.02) ran in the 200-meter dash.
The Gophers return to action at the SU Challenge hosted by Susquehanna University on Saturday. The team will get a chance to learn the track for the upcoming Landmark Conference Championships at the end of February.
