Blazek And Women's 4x400-Meter Relay Win Events At Third Annual Larry Sharpe Memorial
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La./Louise S McGehee) won the pole vault and the women's 4x400-meter relay finished first to pace the Goucher College track and field teams at the Third Annual Larry Sharpe Memorial on Sunday.
Blazek was able to clear a height of 2.59m in the pole vault to win the event. The junior then joined Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS), Enid Swatson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Oakwood Friends School) and Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) to win the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:53.93.
Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) went the distance and finished second in the 1000-meter run (3:53.36) and third in the 3000-meter run (13:33.97) while Smith finished fourth in the 55-meter dash (8.15).
Galino, Smith, Swanson and Jennifer Alves (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) placed third in the sprint medley relay (5:13.40).
Miles (Mia) Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield), Langston Henry (New York, N.Y./Grace Church School), Kai Miller (Harlem, N.Y.) and Joseph Rodenhiser (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) teamed up to place second in the 4x400-meter relay (4:19.68) and the sprint medley relay (4:21.04).
Taylor also finished seventh in the 55-meter hurdles (10.21) and Matthew Knudson (Washington, D.C./E.L. Haynes) placed eighth in the 1-mile run (6:42.94).
Goucher returns to action in the final tune up for the Landmark Conference Championships at the Susquehanna University Invitational on Saturday.
