MADISON, N.J. — The first-place performers in Saturday's Goucher Cross Country Classic were named the Male and Female Runners of the Week in the Landmark Conference for Oct. 4-10, according to an announcement made today by the conference office.
Goucher's Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) was named the top male runner in the Landmark Conference after he beat all 113 other runners across the finish line in Saturday's 8,000-meter race. The junior's winning time was 27:09.2
This is the second time this season that Negreann has earned the weekly honor.
For the women, Goucher's Kelsey Myette (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic Central) is this recipient of the award for Oct. 4-10. She set a new course record in completing the 6,000-meter race on Saturday in a time of 23:59.4.
Her time ranks as the 15th all-time fastest in the history of Goucher's women's cross country program for a race of that distance and it provided her with a more than 45-second margin of victory over the second-place finisher.
