Negreann Attains All-Region Honors by Placing 32nd Overall
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Running the ninth-fastest 8,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's men's cross country program, junior Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) placed 32nd in a field of 316 runners today at the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional.
Junior's Time of 26:06.8 Ranks Ninth All-Time at Goucher
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Running the ninth-fastest 8,000-meter race in the history of Goucher's men's cross country program, junior Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) placed 32nd in a field of 316 runners today at the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional.
Negreann completed the race in 26:06.8. The individual champion was Anders Hulleberg from Haverford, who turned in a time of 24:59.7, giving him a 10.2 second victory over the runner-up, Jeramie Parker from Allegheny.
The top 35 finishers are declared all-region performers and Negreann became only the third male runner from Goucher to earn that honor.
Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole), the lone senior representing Goucher in today's race, crossed the finish line in 28:33.3, good for 165th place.
After Scipione, the next two Goucher runners to come in were freshman Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) in 199th place (29:22.6), sophomore Nick Manta (North Wales, Pa./Abington Friends School) in 201st (29:25.8) and freshman Zach Coto (Newburgh, N.Y./Oakwood Friends School) in 222nd (29:58.2). The times for both Browne and Coto were personal bests.
The Gophers finished with a team score of 813 points for 29th place in the team standings. Haverford was first with 23 points, Dickinson was second with 47 and Carnegie Mellon was third with 122.
