Bakare-Gladney Tandem Paces Goucher Track And Field At Goucher Classic
BALTIMORE, Md. – Tee Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) and Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) registered a pair of second-place finishes to lead the Goucher track and field team at the 19th Goucher Classic on Saturday.
Bakare made her home debut by finishing second in the 100m with a time of 13.11 and second in the 200m with a time of 27.15. Gladney competed in his first event in Baltimore since the 2019 Landmark Championships. Gladney placed second in the discus with a hurl of 36.32m and finished second in the shot put with a throw of 11.92m.
Also, on the men's side, Mustafa Honeyblue (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis Senior) placed second in the 100m (11.63) and fourth In the 200m (23.87). Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) was third in the 400m (53.50), while Samuel Ajborode finished seventh in the 100m (12.39) and the 200m (24.92).
Along with Bakare's performance, Stella Chock (York, Pa./York Suburban) was second in the pole vault (19.97m) and 13th in the 100m (17.34), while Katherine Hernandez Guevara (Hyattsville, Md./Bladensburg) was fifth in the 1500m (5:53.09).
Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa./Northeastern) and Tara Abdullah-Nri (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Technical) each registered a sixth and a seventh on the afternoon. La Court Ruiz placed sixth in the 200m (29.19), and seventh in the 100m (13.81), and Abdullah-Nri was sixth in the discus (18.73m) and seventh in the shot put (7.65m).
Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) finished eighth in the 100m (13.84), and ninth in the 200m (29.80), and Isabel Srour (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) was ninth in the 5000m (25:49.59).
Goucher has its final tune-up for the Landmark Conference Championships at the Blue Jays Tune-Up on Saturday, May 1.
