Gladney Improves His School-Record In The Discus, Places Fourth At Landmark Conference Outdoor Track And Field Championships
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) improved his school record in the discus to finish fourth and pace the Goucher track and field team at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
Gladney improved his school-record toss he set at the Eastern Shore Challenge on April 10 by 0.11 meters with a throw of 40.13m to finish in fourth place, 0.57 meters from earning a medal. The junior also finished seventh in the shot put with a hurl of 11.71m.
Sean Whitfield (Beltsville, Md./DeMatha Catholic) finished seventh in the 400m with a time of 53.66.
Tee Bakare (Silver Spring, Md./Archbishop Carroll) powered the women's track and field team with a fifth-place standing in the 100m and a personal-best time of 12.94. Katherine Hernandez Guevara (Hyattsville, Md./Bladensburg) also earned points for the Gophers thanks to finishing seventh in the 3000m steeplechase with a time personal-best time of 13:52.83.
Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Md./Northeastern) placed 11th in the 100m (13.61) and 13th in the 200m (28.24) after registering her best times in both races.
Jaelan Gabriel (Houston, Texas/Dulles) also had her best times of her career in her 15th-place finish in the 100m (13.98) and 17th-place standing in the 200m (28.66).
Tara Abdullah-Nri (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Technical) finished 15th in the shot put (7.24m), while Charlotte Birnbaum (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) was 18th in the long jump (3.47m).
Isabel Srour (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) wrapped up her career with a season-best time in the 5000m (24:32.49) and a 20th-place finish. Goucher would like to thank Srour for her hard work and dedication to the cross country and track and field programs for the last four years.
