Men Set Three Records, Gophers Take Nine Firsts at Dutchmen Invitational
ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Goucher College men's indoor track and field team set three school records at the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen Invitational on Friday at the Arnold Sports Center. The Gopher men and women's teams combined for nine first place finishes on the evening.
In the men's 300, first year KeMarco Monger finished first with a program-record time of 36.64 seconds. AJ Landy placed second with a time of 37.67 seconds, while Pani Marousis was third at 37.71 seconds. The Gophers took the top eight spots in the event.
First year Jay Briston set a program record in the long jump with a leap of 6.45 meters to place first overall.
In the indoor heptathlon, Aidan Kress placed second and established a program record with 3,521 points.
Marousis finished first in the 400 with a time of 53.02 seconds. Monger was third, checking in at 53.39. The men's 4x400 relay consisting of Emmanuel Olarewju, Marousis, Landy and Briston took first with a time of 3:36.88.
Landy and Briston each reached the 55-meter dash finals. Landy placed third with a 6.72-second effort, while Briston was fourth at 6.74 seconds.
Johan Martinez placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:17.91. Jair Smith checked in third in the mile with a time of 4:45.09.
For the Gopher women, sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw took first place in a pair of events. In the 300 she ran a time of 44.15 seconds. First year Nora Neall was second, coming in at 48.82. Thornton-Fillyaw also won the mile in 5:27.05.
Alana Acker placed first two times on Friday. In the high jump she was first with a 1.50-meter effort, while she won the 55-meter dash at 7.65 seconds.
Dorian Cheney was second in the high jump at 1.45 meters. Cheney took second in the long jump at 5.03 meters, with Acker checking in third at 5.00 meters.
Skye Washington came in first in the 800 at 3:00.56.
Goucher is set to return to action Saturday, January 20, competing in the Cardinal Classic at the PG Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland.
