Whitfield, Briston Break Program Records at South Final Qualifier
WINCHESTER, Va. - The Goucher men's indoor track and field teams set a pair of program records on Saturday as both the Gopher men and women competed at the South Region Final Qualifier at Shenandoah University on Saturday.
Senior Sean Whitfield lowered his own program record set just last week in the men's 800-meter run Whitfield, who ran a program-record 1:56.32 to take second at last week's Landmark Conference Championships, ran a time of 1:55.92 to take first place Saturday. First year Pani Marousis placed second, running a personal-best 1:59.90.
First year Jaylin Briston broke the men's long jump program record held by him and sophomore Mark Martin at 6.84 meters. Briston jumped 6.93 meters to place second overall.
In the men's 60-meter dash prelimsBriston ran a 7.26 to place 13th overall.
Aidan Kress took seventh in the men's triple jump, posting a mark of 12.49 meters.
Ray Asiedu ran a 26.98 in the women's 200 to place sixth, good for a personal best. In the women's 60 prelims Asiedu posted an 8.23-second effort.
Imaya Edmonds ran a personal best in the women's 400, clocking a time of 1:04.41.
