Thornton-Fillyaw Earns Second Straight NCAA Indoor 800 Berth
INDIANAPOLIS - Goucher College women's indoor track and field sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw has qualified for this week's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 800 meter run, marking the second straight year she has qualified. This year's indoor nationals are set for Friday and Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The women's 800 prelims are set for Friday at 3:45 pm, with the finals set for Saturday at 4:50 pm.
Unlike last season where Thornton-Fillyaw was the 20th and final qualifier, this year Tanise enters nationals as the No. 3 seed in the 800 meter, with a seed time of 2:10.01. Thornton-Fillyaw also qualified for NCAA outdoor nationals in the 800 last spring.
Last weekend, Thornton-Fillyaw won the women's 800 at the Landmark Conference Championship for the second straight year, running a school and conference-record time of 2:11.51.
