Bull Breaks 1,000 Points In Loss to Moravian
Junior Briana Bull surpassed the 1,000-point milestone and quickly overtook 10th place in all-time scoring at Goucher College in a 72-66 loss to Moravian in the Decker SRC Arena Wednesday evening.
TOWSON, MD – Junior Briana Bull surpassed the 1,000-point milestone and quickly overtook 10th place in all-time scoring at Goucher College in a 72-66 loss to Moravian in the Decker SRC Arena Wednesday evening.
Bull pushed over the 1,000-point mark with 4:34 to go in the first half draining a layup after weaving through the Greyhounds' defense. In addition to passing 1,000 points, the junior guard tied and surpassed Jennifer Kubista Kamueller ('91) for 10th place all-time scoring at Goucher College. Bull overtook sole possession of 10th place following a clutch steal and breakaway layup with 1:52 to go in the game to score her 1,020th point. Amber Smith ('10) is currently 9th on the list with 1,057 career points at Goucher.
She completed the game with 29 points (game-high), 10 rebounds, five steals and two assists. Heading into the next game, Bull is only one assist and two steals short of 200 in each category.
In addition to Bull's milestone performance, senior Jaida Scarborough scored 17 points, dished out five assists and accumulated five steals.
The Greyhounds were led by senior Camille McPherson with 21 points and 12 rebounds. McPherson was supplemented by freshmen Nadine Ewald and Karlie Brogan with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Senior Morgan Calabrese chipped in with six dimes in the game.
How It Happened:
- Goucher fell behind 24-4 in the first 6:18 of the game, however, the Gophers were able to rally back, closing the first stanza on a 9-0 run, bringing the game to 24-13 heading into the second quarter.
- Goucher kept pace with the Greyhounds 11-11 in the second quarter. The first half closed with Moravian on top, 35-24.
- The Greyhounds battled for a little cushion in the third quarter outscoring the Gophers, 22-18.
- Goucher provided staunch defense paired with a high-motor offense to outscore the Greyhounds 24-15 in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the 15-point differential.
- Moravian solidified its fifth conference victory with a made free throw with three seconds left in the game, increasing their lead to 72-66.
- The Gophers shot 37.7% (27-of-73) over the course of the game, while the Greyhounds edged them with 48.4% (30-of-62) shooting.
- Goucher edged Moravian with 23 points off turnovers while holding the Greyhounds to only 13 points off turnovers. The Gophers also held an advantage in second chance points (13-11), fast break points (14-8) and bench points (14-5).

- "This was a tough loss, but not because of our lack of effort. Tonight we played like a team and gave ourselves an opportunity to win. I'm proud of how we never quit and played so hard. I'm looking forward to Saturday."
